One-Day Marlborough High Country Sightseeing Tour Itinerary

Start time 8.00 am from Blenheim. The journey takes you past many well known Marlborough vineyards; e.g. Montana, Villa Maria, The Crossings, growing world famous Sauvignon Blanc here in the fertile alluvial soils of New Zealand's second largest wine growing region. The Inland Kaikoura mountain range is the backdrop to your journey through the vineyard clad river terraces on your way to the high country. The Awatere Valley is steeped in early NZ pastorial farming history and its farm's produce some of NZ's finest Merino wool as used by Icebreaker.

Enjoy morning tea in a Merino station woolshed  where you can soak up the high country atmosphere. Traveling onwards  towards Molesworth Station to enjoy a tasty picnic lunch beside the original Molesworth Cottage made of cob. Experience the unique unspoiled vastness of New Zealand's largest cattle station as we travel to Isolated Flat with its vast river valley formed by glaciers millions of years ago and the shear barren mountains ravaged by rabbits long gone. Listen to stories of the past and learn about the history of the area.

The return trip down the Awatere Valley is equally as spectacular and gives you another aspect of the awe inspiring views of this vast valley returning to Blenheim via the original Taylor Pass route.
