Departing from Blenheim discover the Awatere Valley - Molesworth Station - Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort, Lake Tennyson - Rainbow Station - Wairau Valley - Wairau Plains returning to Blenheim.
Relax and enjoy the sights and attractions of the stunning Awatere Valley as it leads into the high country of Molesworth Station.
Learn about the changing land use from traditional pastoral farming to the current wine industry. Let the magic of Moleworth Station come to life for you when you discover the cultural heritage of this special New Zealand farming icon.
Day One
Morning tea on a high country station in the Awatere Valley before we continue on a gradual ascent past remote farms and stations, and into Molesworth Station.
Lunch is picnic style and we have time to explore the early pioneer dwellings and hear a few of the old tales. You will enjoy soaking up the magnificent views, clear skies and atmosphere of Molesworth, New Zealand's largest high country station.
Overnight in the picturesque Hanmer Springs thermal resort at The Drifters Inn, relax in the therapeutic hot pools before dinner, breathe the mountain air and enjoy wandering through the shops in the township. The evening meal is at one of Hanmer's finest's restaurants.
Day Two
We journey to Lake Tennyson at an altitude of 3,500 ft, enjoy morning tea here with a back drop of the Spencer Mountains, then ascending Island Saddle 4,500 ft afterwards descending through Hells Gate following the Wairau river with the beech forest cascading down to the Wairau river of Rainbow Station and returning to Blenheim through the Wairau wine valley.
