History

The tour company has been operating in Marlborough for over twenty-seven years, starting out with one and two day tours, camping and fishing trips.

On taking over the business in 1993, the current owners expanded the tours through the Awatere, Molesworth, Hanmer Springs, Rainbow Valley and the growing wine country of Wairau Plains in Marlborough.They also started one of Marlborough’s first full time wine trail services with a core of great drivers.

Molesworth Tour Company (Previously Back Country Safaris) in true Kiwi style is operated and managed by the owners Geoff and Lee Swift.

Together with the help of a team great driver/guides and cycle guides and the support of some local farmers and people of the land they have managed to develop a unique range of high country experience tours based around the Molesworth Station theme for people wanting a real New Zealand holiday experience.

About Us

Geoff loves the great outdoors and meeting people, Lee is enjoying the challenge of business studies, administration and marketing.

We have four young adult children, a son in Canada on his OE working as a draughts man, a daughter on her OE and is a geologist in the mining industry, a second daughter studying wine marketing and wine science in Napier and another son studying project management in Christchurch.
